    Entrance Description
The first few chords of Edward Elgar's fourth Pomp & Circumstance March are played from the PA system into the arena. After a few seconds, "The Purist" Marvin Wood appears from behind the curtain with a dour expression on his face. He walks to the middle of the stage area and stands there for a few seconds, to survey the audience. He then begins walking down the entrance-way. Many of the members of the audience boo, some catcall and a few cheer. He looks at no-one as he approaches the ring, but stretches his fingers a bit. He stretches three fingers on each hand, first, and then four fingers on each hand.

Marvin walks towards the ring steps, and walks up them and towards the middle of the apron, sliding his hand over the top rope as he does so. He pauses there for a few seconds, before entering the ring, right leg first and then left leg. He enters the ring with plenty of pomp and circumstance, as if he were a foot taller than he is. He then walks over to the opposite turnbuckle and waits.

    Wrestlers Biography/History
For several years, Marvin Wood was recognised as someone with great potential. During his original tenure in Ultimate Wrestling Entertainment, he feuded with the likes of Todd Quality, Callos, Bryan Blaze and Scylla. He even won a battle royal which included many of UWE’s best and most promising stars. But, unfortunately, his performances were often marred by personal problems. Always outspoken, Wood appeared to have a lot of deep-seated values and beliefs, alongside an ever-evolving plethora of enemies. But, these problems ultimately only served to stagnate his career, rather than fuel him to succeed. He claimed to have had a stint in prison, and family problems were made apparent, again and again. And, for whatever reason, he always seemed compelled to express these problems to the UWE fan base. Marvin Wood appeared to be unable to channel his passion in the right direction.

That is until shortly before his departure from UWE, when it finally appeared that he would emerge from the shadows as a true contender to any title within the company. And alas, what better time for him to be fired? Perhaps out of frustration for losing the stage on which he could demonstrate his form, Wood was about to begin his most bizarre and intense rivalry yet: against UWE, itself. He predicted the demise of the promotion; invaded it on several occasions; attempted to prepare an alternative promotion which would rise from the ashes of the “old UWE”. But, suddenly, all of this seemed to die away, and a new Marvin Wood was formed.

Since leaving UWE, in addition to remaining active in mainstream pro wrestling, Marvin has travelled continents to train with two of the most prolific practitioners of Catch-as-Catch-Can wrestling in history. He is now considered by many commentators in the professional wrestling landscape as one of the most well-respected, well-trained and fundamentally sound wrestlers in the world. Plus, he boasts the most effective cardio-vascular and sparring regime there is.

Not only have these experiences taught him how to be a better professional wrestler and athlete, but it has helped him to be himself. In the space of months, he no longer aspires to a gothic, soap-opera-style on-screen persona. Instead, he is an elite athlete fuelled by his drive to enforce his deepest values of tradition; authenticity; ambition; pride; and, an unwavering sense of fairness and righteousness. The only “on-screen persona” which he now showcases is an extension of himself: a purist.

Now that UWE has been reborn, it becomes an unlikely but poetic venue for the rebirth of “The Purist” Marvin Wood.
